Aluminium Wire And Cable Operating Rates Fell In April Amid Poor Orders

SHANGHAI, May 16 (SMM) - According to SMM survey, the average operating rate in the aluminium wire and cable sector stood at 48.1% in April, down nearly 1 percentage point MoM, but up 6.5 percentage points YoY.

Large enterprises lowered their production schedules in April following massive delivery, and some of them undertook maintenance. The construction of power grid projects enabled enterprises in north China to ramp up production. Orders from State Grid so far this year were better than last year. The construction of power grids in south-west and north-west China will boost the demand for aluminium wire and cable in the future. In April, photovoltaic connection to power grid did not bring many orders.
