Slack Demand Prevented Secondary Aluminium Alloy Prices From Gaining As Much As Aluminium Scrap Prices

SHANGHAI, Apr 24 (SMM) - A00 aluminium prices hit a four-month high of 19,110 yuan/mt last Thursday, and retreated only slightly to 19,030 yuan/mt on Friday, up 320 yuan/mt or 1.71% from a week ago. The prices of aluminium extrusion scrap and aluminium extrusion scrap rose 200-300 yuan/mt and 100-200 yuan/mt respectively across most regions last week. Rising aluminium scrap prices encouraged suppliers to sell, but the overall supply remained tight. In response to poor profitability and high aluminium scrap prices, downstream enterprises restocked only as needed. Aluminium scrap prices are expected to fluctuate at highs alongside aluminium prices, with little upward momentum due to weak demand.

The prices of ADC12 secondary aluminium alloy rose 150 yuan/mt from a week ago to 19,400 yuan/mt as of April 21.
