Lithium Carbonate Smelters Plagued by Inventory Backlog amid Muted Transactions

One lithium salt smelter said that it is now losing money for every tonne of lithium carbonate it produces, but shutdown would risk losing customers, putting it in a dilemma.

The smelter has also shut down half of its capacity, but its stocks remain high, in stark contrast to last year when it barely held any inventory or even reported negative inventory.
