Global lithium giants gather in Meishan

The lithium power projects introduced into Meishan are all large-scale. At the beginning of the 2022 new year, the construction of the integrated base of 200000 tons of lithium battery anode materials in Meishan, Shanshan Science and Technology, was started. According to the agreement signed between Pengshan District of Meishan City and Shanshan Science and Technology in August 2021, the project has a fixed asset investment of 8 billion yuan and a construction period of 32 months.

It is understood that the Shanshan project is an important part of the concentrated construction of major projects in Sichuan Province in the first quarter of 2022. This time, 42 projects were started in Meishan alone, with a total investment of 44.9 billion yuan. In the field of lithium battery industry, in addition to the Shanshan project, it also includes Jinyuansheng new energy battery cathode materials project, research and development of power battery electrolytes, additives and solid-state battery materials projects and other provincial key projects.

Shortly before that, Sinotrans signed an investment agreement with Sichuan Pengshan Economic Development Zone in Meishan on December 29th, 2021, with an annual output of 100000 tons of lithium cathode materials, with a total planned investment of about 1.8 billion yuan. In April 2021, the 50GWh power battery and energy storage battery base project of Sinovel has been settled in Chengdu, which is only tens of kilometers away from Meishan.

Earlier, on December 19, 2021, Ningde Times signed a project with Meishan Municipal Government, with a total investment of about 2.5 billion yuan, to build a cathode material production line and related production facilities and supporting facilities in Ganmei Industrial Park, which is expected to be completed and put into production by the end of August 2023. This project is located in Meishan, which is the third city in Sichuan after Yibin and Chengdu.

New energy and new materials are the leading industries cultivated in the "1-3" modern industrial system in Meishan, not only Ningde era, China New Airlines, Cedar Technology, and so on. Meishan has also introduced about 30 lithium power projects with a total investment of more than 70 billion yuan, such as innovative Energy, Tianhua Ultra Clean, Heavenly Gift Materials, and Yabao of the United States, which are speeding up the formation of 100 billion-level lithium power industry clusters. These projects are distributed in Meishan High-tech Zone, Ganmei Industrial Park, Pengshan Economic Development Zone, Danling Industrial Park and so on.

Battery China does not fully count some other key projects introduced by Meishan City in 2021:

The fourth quarter: Sibao Science and Technology projects such as silicon-carbon anode materials for lithium batteries (November), construction of an annual production base of 50, 000 tons of lithium hydroxide with an investment of US $500 million in Yabao New era Lithium Battery Factory (October); investment of 1.53 billion yuan in Tianci materials annual production capacity of 300000 tons of electrolyte and 100000 tons of iron lithium battery recycling project (October); Guangdong, with an investment of 2.5 billion yuan, is far from the 50, 000-ton / year battery-grade lithium hydroxide circular economy industrial park project (October); Shenzhen Fitsen New Energy Co., Ltd. with an investment of 2 billion yuan produces 40, 000 tons of basic lithium salt and 3000 tons of metal lithium per year (October). Chongqing Yibai Enterprise, which invested 170 million yuan, managed the production project of lithium battery box and aluminum car box of the partnership enterprise, and built an annual production line of 300000 lithium battery boxes and 12000 aluminum alloy car boxes (October).

The third quarter: Shenzhen Yanyi New Materials Co., Ltd. invested 2.5 billion yuan in the annual production of 150000 tons of lithium battery core materials project (September), invested 2.5 billion yuan in Tianhua super-net annual production capacity of 60, 000 tons of battery-grade lithium hydroxide project (September). Wanhua Chemical annual production capacity of 50, 000 tons of lithium iron phosphate lithium cathode material integration project (August);

In the first half of the year, we invested about 36 billion yuan in the lithium battery production base project of poly-innovative energy 56GWh (March), and invested 5.4 billion yuan in the whole industry chain project of Jinyuansheng new energy battery cathode materials in Shanghai to build an annual production line with an annual output of 30,000 tons of cobalt salt, 20,000 tons of cobalt tetroxide and 80,000 tons of ternary precursors (March).

The rise of hundreds of billions of "Lithium Power New Capital"

With the increasingly fierce market competition, the domestic lithium battery industry has a tendency to gradually transfer to the southwest region. Sichuan not only ranks first in ore lithium resources in the country, but also can lay out the whole industrial chain through the advantage of upstream resources. now the lithium battery industry in Sichuan has shown a situation of multi-point blooming, such as Chengdu, Yibin, Suining, Meishan, Dazhou and so on. Ningde era, AVIC Lithium Power, Honeycomb Energy, Yiwei Lithium Energy and other industry leading enterprises have entered Sichuan.

In addition to the advantages of lithium resources, Sichuan's rich clean energy such as hydropower and low electricity prices will effectively reduce the production costs of lithium power industry enterprises and improve product profitability. At the same time, Sichuan is one of the main starting points of the China-Europe train, and the location of Sichuan is also beneficial for enterprises to actively expand the European market and ensure the supply of overseas business by relying on the convenience of local railway transportation.

In recent years, focusing on lithium power, photovoltaic, new chemical materials, new display, storage and other fields, Meishan has introduced many major projects and strengthened the lithium materials industry chain around the "1x 3" industry. Meishan has become a major lithium material industry agglomeration area in Sichuan province.

Hu Yuankun, secretary of the Meishan Municipal CPC Committee, said that 2022 is the "breakthrough year for manufacturing a strong city" determined by the Meishan Municipal CPC Committee. Meishan City will focus on green and low-carbon industries such as lithium materials, introduce a series of supporting policies and create a first-class business environment. Focus on the introduction of a number of leading enterprises with strong supporting role and strong driving effect to speed up the development of agglomeration.

Facing the future, Meishan strives to form a lithium industry chain of "basic lithium salt processing-production of key materials (positive, negative, electrolyte, diaphragm)-battery production-battery recycling" by 2025, with an industrial scale of more than 100 billion yuan.
