SMM: at the 2020 China Tungsten and Molybdenum Industry Development Forum held on September 24, Ding Xuequan, vice president of China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association and president of China Tungsten Industry Association, Wu Cui, president of Xiamen Tungsten Industry Co., Ltd., Xie Yifeng, China Tungsten Industry Association, and Si Bo, deputy general manager of Jinduicheng Molybdenum Industry Co., Ltd., attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. The opening ceremony was presided over by Hu Deyong, Deputy Secretary-General of China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association.

In his speech, Ding Xuequan said: 2020 is an extraordinary year, the international environment is becoming more and more complex, the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic is gradually emerging, economic globalization has encountered countercurrent, unilateralism and protectionism prevail in some countries, and the prospects for domestic economic development are better. however, the problems of unbalanced and inadequate development are still prominent, and there are still many shortcomings and weaknesses in achieving high-quality development. In the face of a series of difficulties and challenges, under the unified command and strong leadership of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, and with the efforts of all colleagues in the industry, China's non-ferrous metals industry has withstood the impact and test since the second quarter of this year. It shows a trend of bottom-to-bottom recovery and continuous improvement. From January to July, the smelting output of commonly used non-ferrous metals in China maintained a steady growth, the output of some mines decreased to increase, the output of processed products returned to sustained growth, and the decline in investment in fixed assets narrowed. The cumulative profit decline of non-ferrous metal industrial enterprises above the national scale has been further narrowed. The operation of the tungsten and molybdenum industry is consistent with that of the non-ferrous metal industry as a whole. The latest statistics show that from January to August, China produced about 87000 tons of tungsten concentrate (65% of tungsten trioxide) and 139000 tons of molybdenum concentrate (45% of pure molybdenum). The price of tungsten and molybdenum products gradually recovered, but due to the shrinking overseas demand, exports declined compared with the same period last year. From January to July, China's cumulative exports of tungsten and molybdenum products decreased by 29.7% and 25.5% respectively compared with the same period last year; fixed asset investment in tungsten and molybdenum mining and smelting industries decreased by 26.2% and 25.6% respectively compared with the same period last year; and the operating income of tungsten and molybdenum mining and metallurgical enterprises at and above the national scale was about 93.48 billion yuan, with a total profit of about 2.45 billion yuan.

Ding Xuequan put forward four opinions and suggestions in view of the difficulties and obstacles in the development of the current industry. First, efforts should be made to raise awareness and strengthen confidence. Second, we should persist in deepening reform and optimize the industrial structure. Third, we should adhere to innovation-driven and promote industrial upgrading. Fourth, we should do solid work to promote green development.

In his speech, Wu said that in the course of nearly 40 years of development, Xiamen tungsten industry has always adhered to the spirit of pursuing excellence and the concept of innovation-driven development. in the field of tungsten and molybdenum separation and metallurgy and processing, it has successively won one national first prize for scientific and technological progress, two awards for national scientific and technological progress, and one second prize for national technological invention. In 2019, the combined operating income of tungsten and molybdenum industry is 10 billion yuan. In the face of the requirements of supply-side reform, industrial upgrading and the realization of advanced industrial foundation and industrial chain modernization, Xiamen tungsten industry actively responds to the pressure and challenges it is facing.

In his speech, Xie Yifeng said: in the general environment of the continued downturn in the global economy, the production and operation performance of China's tungsten industry in the first half of this year is the same as that of the same period last year, and the achievement is not easy to come by, which is the result of the hard work, development and innovation of enterprises in the industry. As the advisor of the government, the spokesman of the industry and the partner of the enterprise, the China Tungsten Industry Association will always work together with all enterprises to strive for the healthy and high-quality development of the industry. We are committed to building the association into a social organization that is capable of itself, inseparable from the enterprise, trustworthy by the government, influential by the industry and contributed by the society.

Sibo said in his speech that in the face of the current situation, as the executive director of the International Molybdenum Association and the sub-chairman of China's molybdenum industry, Jinduicheng molybdenum industry will certainly take the prosperity of the industry as its own responsibility, unite with colleagues and brother units in the industry, and overcome difficulties. Hand in hand, seek common development.

After the opening ceremony, Wang Jun, president of founder medium-term Futures Research Institute, Yu Zequan, Deputy Secretary-General of China Tungsten Industry Association, and Zhu Haibing, Director of Dongguan NC tool Industry Association, respectively made a report entitled "Macro-cycle change and global economic outlook", "current situation analysis and suggestions of China's tungsten industry" and "domestic cemented carbide tool demand analysis".

The forum also arranged guest interviews and reporting sessions, at the same time, it also received strong support from the cemented carbide branch of China Tungsten Industry Association, molybdenum industry branch of China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association, Ganzhou Tungsten Industry Association, International Molybdenum Industry Association, China Special Steel Enterprises Association and other units.
