Scrap Gold, Silver and Platinum prices drop further

The daily scrap gold and silver prices - hallmarked and non- hallmarked declined further Monday, 21st March, 2016 on the ScrapMonster Price Index. Platinum scrap prices too slumped.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The daily scrap gold and silver prices - hallmarked and non- hallmarked declined further Monday, 21st March, 2016 on the ScrapMonster Price Index. Platinum scrap prices too slumped.

In the Hallmarked category, the 14 carat gold scrap prices were down by $ 5.81 per Oz. The prices of 18 carat and 22 carat gold scrap inched lower by $ 7.45 and $ 9.10 per Oz respectively.9 carat gold scrap also went lower by $ 3.73 per Oz. The price of Platinum scrap saw cut of $ 11.67 per Oz to reach $ 708.70 per Oz. Silver scrap prices too closed slightly on the lower side at $13.01 per Oz, edging lower by $ 0.11 per Oz.

In the Non-Hallmarked category, the 14 carat gold scrap prices edged lower by $ 5.50 per Oz. The prices of 18 carat and 22 carat gold scrap were down $ 7.05 and $ 8.61 per Oz respectively. 9 carat gold scrap also was down $ 3.52 per Oz. Platinum scrap prices fell by $ 11.67 per Oz. Meantime, Non-hallmarked silver scrap prices witnessed a fall of $ 0.09 per Oz.

SMM Morning Meeting Summary: Last Friday night, LME copper opened at $14,502/mt, initially drifted lower to touch a low of $14,480.5/mt, then drifted higher near the end of the session to touch a high of $14,551/mt, and finally closed at $14,563/mt, up 0.62%. Trading volume reached 21,000 lots, and open interest reached 265,000 lots, an increase of 2,021 lots from the previous trading day, reflecting increased positions by bulls. Last Friday night, the most-traded SHFE copper 2610 contract opened at 109,840 yuan/mt, initially drifted higher to touch a high of 109,950 yuan/mt, then its center gradually moved lower to dip to 109,620 yuan/mt, and finally closed at 109,900 yuan/mt, up 0.34%. Trading volume reached 17,200 lots, and open interest reached 151,100 lots, a decrease of 766 lots from the previous trading day, reflecting reduced positions by bears.

El fabricante taiwanés de laminados recubiertos de cobre (CCL) Ventec International Group (6672.TW) aprobó el 17 de septiembre un presupuesto de expansión de 1.500 millones de dólares taiwaneses (aproximadamente 47,3 millones de dólares estadounidenses) para arrendar y modernizar una fábrica inactiva en Kunshan, Jiangsu, con la instalación de dos líneas automatizadas orientadas a una capacidad mensual de 500.000 láminas de CCL y 2,4 millones de metros de preimpregnado. El emplazamiento, de 20.000 metros cuadrados, se encuentra junto a las operaciones existentes de la empresa y se beneficia de los permisos medioambientales ya concedidos, lo que permite iniciar la producción en masa aproximadamente un año antes que en un proyecto de nueva construcción. El gasto previsto es de unos 41,76 millones de RMB para la mejora de los edificios y 246 millones de RMB para maquinaria y equipos. La combinación de productos abarca materiales de alta velocidad M6 en fase de aumento de producción, mientras que los grados M7/M8/M9 están en proceso de cualificación con clientes internacionales de servidores y módulos ópticos. Ventec registró en agosto unos ingresos consolidados récord de 810 millones de dólares taiwaneses, un 133,2 % más interanual, con un aumento del 53,6 % en los ocho primeros meses. La planta de Kunshan complementará la fábrica de la empresa en Tailandia y atenderá a servidores de IA, conmutadores de alta velocidad, módulos ópticos y electrónica del automóvil, impulsando la demanda de láminas de cobre y láminas de cobre electrolítico aguas arriba.
