ANKARA (Scrap Register): Turkish HMS 1/2 80:20 scrap import average prices (CFR Iskenderun Port, Turkey) edged up by $1 a ton week-on-week to $289 a ton during last week, as per the latest figures from the Steel Index.
Trade was noticeably quieter this week, with only a couple of cargoes sold at slightly lower levels than seen previously towards the end of the week – participants felt this could signify the recent price rises are running out of steam, although scrap supply is still reported to be relatively tight.
Participants are bearish looking forward to the next couple of months, with Ramadan likely to coincide with an influx of Chinese-origin billets.
