[SMM Tungsten Express] SMM October 15: The European APT offer range shifted down to $2,500-3,100/mtu this week, with the price center declining notably. Some institutions quoted as low as $2,500-2,700/mtu, though actual transactions remained scarce. Long-term contract prices held above $3,000/mtu, while spot offers were largely absent, leaving the market without effective transaction guidance and both buyers and sellers on the sidelines. Ferrotungsten (Rotterdam warehouse) edged down to $150-170/kg W. European scrap carbide blades were quoted at €65-80/kg, stabilizing after declines, while Indian scrap carbide blade FOB stood at $65-85/kg, continuing to weaken with clear regional divergence. Near-term downside pressure remains, with attention on changes in China's export policy and actual

Centinela Concentrates produced 900 metric tonnes of contained molybdenum in the third quarter of 2026, up 12.5% from the preceding quarter, although nine-month output remained 11.5% lower year on year at 2,300 metric tonnes. Molybdenum grade increased to 0.016% from 0.014%, while recovery rose to 79.1% from 76.8%. Molybdenum sales increased 14.3% to 800 metric tonnes, despite a 4.7% decline in copper-in-concentrate output. The figures predate the post-quarter strike involving unions representing about 20% of directly employed workers, and no molybdenum loss has been quantified. Production is on a 100% mine basis, not Antofagasta’s 70% attributable share or physical concentrate mass.

Antofagasta plc reported third-quarter contained-molybdenum production of 2,900 metric tonnes, down 6.5% from the preceding quarter. Output for the first nine months of 2026 fell 21.1% year on year to 9,000 metric tonnes, principally because of lower molybdenum grades at Los Pelambres. The average market price rose 11.5% quarter on quarter to 33.0 United States dollars per pound, while the realised price increased 3.8% to 35.7 United States dollars per pound. Production is reported on a 100% mine basis for Los Pelambres and Centinela, not Antofagasta’s attributable share or physical concentrate mass.
