SMM Announcement on Revision of Chinese‑English Indicator Units

Published: Oct 14, 2026 14:40 (GMT+8)

Dear Users,

To further improve data quality and guarantee the accuracy, standardization and consistency of information displayed on our platform, we have recently completed a comprehensive review and revision of Chinese‑English units for system data. Relevant notices are set out below:

I. Background for Revision

During routine data maintenance and inspection, we identified issues including incorrect units, faulty translations, truncated English units, and non‑standard capitalization in some Chinese‑English unit entries. Such problems may impair data readability and user experience, and even lead to misinterpretation. Therefore, we launched this special‑purpose revision initiative.

II. Revision Scope

This revision covers the following issues:

  • Incorrect units: Chinese or English units inconsistent with actual definitions, or adoption of invalid measurement units.
  • Translation errors: Inaccurate or inconsistent English translations corresponding to Chinese units.
  • Truncated English units: Incomplete display of English units caused by character‑length constraints and other factors.
  • Improper capitalization of English units: Failure to comply with international conventions for case sensitivity (e.g. "KG" should be "kg", "hz" should be "Hz").

Please refer to the attachment at the end of this document for the full list of affected indicators.

III. Revision Principles

  • Accuracy: Ensure units match the actual meaning of data.
  • Standardization: Comply with the International System of Units (SI) and prevailing industry standards.
  • Consistency: Maintain uniform Chinese‑English representations for identical units across the whole platform.
  • Completeness: Present full English unit names without truncation due to character limits. Non‑standard abbreviations are prohibited except for internationally‑accepted shorthand forms.

IV. Effective Date

This unit revision will be completed and officially taken effect on October 15, 2026. Revised data will be synchronously rolled out across relevant modules of the platform.

Amerigo Resources reported on October 13 that its wholly owned Minera Valle Central tailings operation in Chile produced and sold 0.36 million pounds, or about 163.3 tonnes, of contained molybdenum in the third quarter of 2026, up 2.9% year on year but down 5.3% from the second quarter. Nine-month output reached 1.15 million pounds, or about 521.6 tonnes, up 18.6% year on year and equal to 76.7% of its 1.5-million-pound annual guidance. Heavy rain reduced days available to process historic tailings, but plant availability remained 98.1%. The average molybdenum price rose to 32.38 United States dollars per pound from 29.15 in the second quarter. Figures are contained molybdenum, not physical concentrate mass.

Rio Tinto reported consolidated copper production of 205,000 tonnes in the September quarter, flat year-on-year and down 4% from the June quarter, taking nine-month output to 646,000 tonnes, up 1% versus 2025. Oyu Tolgoi in Mongolia drove the growth, with copper output up 27% year-on-year in Q3 and 29% year-to-date, running at an annualised rate of about 450,000 tonnes during the quarter. At Kennecott in the United States, the rebuilt flash converting furnace returned to normal capacity in late August, ahead of schedule, after an outage that weighed on quarterly cathode output. The group kept its 2026 copper production guidance of 800,000-870,000 tonnes unchanged and reaffirmed unit-cost guidance. Sustained Oyu Tolgoi growth partly offsets volume volatility at Kennecott and its Escondida interest as the group defends its full-year copper target.
