Almonty Resumes Tungsten Production at Sangdong Mine After 30-Year Hiatus

[SMM Tungsten Express] In late September, Almonty Industries marked a historic milestone at its Sangdong Mine in South Korea, producing the first tungsten at the operation since 1993. The milestone represents the culmination of years of development, construction and commissioning at Sangdong, marking a defining moment for the Almonty team and the local community. Sangdong is central to Almonty's strategy of establishing secure, diversified sources of tungsten outside the traditional global supply base.

Masan High-Tech Seeks 5% Private Placement to Fund Tungsten Mine Expansion and Processing
[SMM Tungsten Express] Vietnamese tungsten producer Masan High-Tech Materials is seeking shareholder approval for a private placement of up to 5% of its shares to long-term investors, to fund mine expansion and downstream processing and strengthen its balance sheet. The placement targets strategic, domestic and foreign institutional, and professional securities investors, with the offering price no lower than the most recent strategic transaction price. In September, the company agreed to sell a 4.99% stake to US-based Elmet Group in a deal valuing it at approximately $2.5 billion. Nui Phao is one of the world's largest tungsten mines outside China and accounts for nearly all of Vietnam's estimated annual output of about 3,400 metric tons.

[SMM Tungsten Express] Traxys Europe and Abenójar Tungsten have signed a definitive long-term exclusive offtake agreement for tungsten concentrate from the El Moto project in Spain. Traxys will be the exclusive offtaker for a minimum of ten years from commercial production, responsible for marketing, logistics and distribution to industrial consumers worldwide, with pricing linked to the internationally recognized APT price index. El Moto is designated a Strategic Project under the EU Critical Raw Materials Act and is one of the largest tungsten development projects outside China. Construction began in 2026, with first production targeted for Q1 2029.
