On October 8, Tianwan nuclear power plant’s Unit 7 connected to the grid for the first time and began supplying electricity. Commercial operation is expected before the end of 2026. The site is planned to comprise eight units; Units 1–6 have generated more than 550 billion kWh cumulatively.
Once all eight units operate, total capacity will exceed 9 GW. Annual generation is projected to exceed 70 billion kWh, with potential annual carbon dioxide emissions reductions of 57.4 million tonnes.
