Stockpiling Concludes, Secondary Lead Inventory Buildup Expected During Next Week's Holiday [SMM Secondary Lead Inventory Weekly Review]

Published: Sep 30, 2026 14:58 (GMT+8)

SMM, September 30:

As of September 30, secondary lead finished product inventories stood at 7,700 mt, down 330 mt WoW. This week, pre-holiday stockpiling has largely concluded, downstream purchasing sentiment has cooled, and transactions pulled back WoW. Meanwhile, spot orders from secondary lead suppliers remained tight, with some merchants starting their holidays early and suspending quotes and shipments, slowing the pace of inventory decline. Next week falls entirely within the National Day holiday, and market trading will be largely halted. Secondary lead smelters will have limited holiday shutdowns, and SMM expects finished product inventories to see a slight accumulation.

Masivo Intersects 32.5 Metres of Polymetallic Mineralisation at Cerro Colorado Grading 0.271% Zinc and 0.141% Lead
Masivo Silver reported assays from CC-26-001, the first hole of its 2026 drilling program at the Cerro Colorado project in Sonora, Mexico. The hole intersected 32.50 metres from 226.30 to 258.80 metres grading 0.271% zinc, 0.141% lead, 7.0 g/t silver, 0.025% copper and 0.010 g/t gold. A separate 5.10-metre interval from 215.10 metres graded 0.611% zinc, 0.121% lead and 24.0 g/t silver. The hole was terminated at 259.5 metres because of technical drilling difficulties while still within altered and mineralised rock. Masivo plans to integrate the assays with geological, structural, alteration and geophysical information to guide follow-up drilling testing lateral and vertical continuity. The company states that all reported intervals are drilled lengths and true widths have not yet been determined.

5N Plus plans to expand its St. George, Utah facility by approximately 50%, with completion targeted for H2 2027. The site transforms indium antimonide and other specialty materials into semiconductor materials, wafers, substrates and selected components, with recovery, purification and crystal-growth capabilities. New equipment will be installed progressively, but InSb-specific capacity was not disclosed; the 50% figure refers to the facility expansion, not indium demand.
