[SMM Flash] NexAI Secures Rp10.75 Trillion BNI Financing to Expand Indonesia Data Center Capacity to 102 MW

Published: Sep 30, 2026 01:52 (GMT+8)
Indonesia’s PT NexAI Digital Infrastruktur Tbk (MGLV) has secured up to Rp10.75 trillion in financing from state-owned Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI) to expand data center infrastructure through subsidiaries PT Nextier Askara Center (NAC) and PT Nextier GenAi Center (NGC). NAC will receive around Rp4.12 trillion to partly finance the acquisition and expansion of JababekaDC in Cikarang, adding 36 MW to raise capacity from 6 MW to 42 MW, while NGC will receive around Rp6.63 trillion to develop the 60 MW BatangDC in Central Java’s Batang Integrated Industrial Estate. The facilities carry tenors of six and seven years respectively, with interest based on 90-day Compounded IndONIA plus a 1.9% margin. Once completed, the two projects would provide 102 MW of combined data center capacity, supporting Indonesia’s expanding digital and AI infrastructure requirements.

[SMM Oil & Gas Flash] Criterium Energy Targets October Gas Start as Pipeline Nears Completion
Canada-listed Criterium Energy is targeting October 2026 for the start of natural gas production from its operations in Indonesia as construction of the associated gas pipeline approaches completion. The pipeline will provide the infrastructure needed to commercialize gas from the company’s producing assets, adding a new revenue stream alongside its existing oil production. With pipeline work in its final stages, the company is preparing for initial gas deliveries, supporting further monetization of its Indonesian upstream portfolio and additional domestic gas supply.

[SMM Nickel Flash] Eramet Says EU Carbon Costs Shut Market for Indonesian NPI
French mining group Eramet said Indonesian nickel pig iron (NPI) has effectively lost access to the European market due to its high carbon footprint and the rising cost of carbon in Europe. Indonesia’s NPI industry relies heavily on coal-fired power, resulting in relatively high embedded emissions, while tightening European carbon requirements are increasing the cost disadvantage for carbon-intensive materials. With the EU’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) entering its definitive phase in 2026, carbon intensity is becoming an increasingly important factor in the competitiveness of nickel-containing products and stainless-steel raw materials. Eramet, which has an interest in Indonesia’s Weda Bay Nickel operation, indicated that the widening carbon-cost gap could increasingly shape the destination of Indonesian NPI, reinforcing its concentration in Asian stainless-steel markets.

[SMM Energy Flash] ZE Energy Adds 200 MW/1 GWh Battery Project to Italian Portfolio
French renewable energy developer ZE Energy has acquired a 200 MW battery energy storage system (BESS) project with more than 1 GWh of storage capacity in Italy, further expanding its presence in the country’s rapidly growing energy-storage market. The acquisition strengthens ZE Energy’s Italian development pipeline as the company expands both stand-alone battery and hybrid solar-plus-storage projects across Europe. The large-scale BESS is expected to provide flexibility to Italy’s power system, helping balance variable renewable generation and supporting the country’s broader build-out of storage capacity as solar and wind penetration increases.
