[ Lloyds Metals Approves ₹190 Crore Capex to Expand DRI Capacity to 907,400 MTPA ]

India's Lloyds Metals and Energy Limited approved a ₹190 crore ($22.8 million) capital expenditure plan on September 21, 2026, to expand its total Direct Reduced Iron (DRI/sponge iron) production capacity from 700,000 MTPA to 907,400 MTPA—a 30% aggregate increase. The investment will increase capacity at the Ghugus facility in Maharashtra from 630,000 MTPA to 815,000 MTPA (costing ₹140 crore) and at the Konsari plant from 70,000 MTPA to 92,400 MTPA (costing ₹50 crore). The debottlenecking expansion, funded via internal accruals and targeted for completion within 12 months, will process captive iron ore to supply local electric arc furnaces.
