Trump Expects Iran Talks to Continue, Considers Military Options Amid Tension

Published: Sep 28, 2026 14:38 (GMT+8)
US President Trump said in an interview that negotiations with Iran are expected to continue this week. Trump had previously rejected Iran's proposal to end the war. Trump said Iran wants to reach a deal, but not the deal he wants, and that Iran has overestimated its leverage. When asked whether he would consider resuming military strikes against Iran, Trump said he is always considering it. Sources said the Iranian delegation has no plan to hold a new round of talks with the US side on its agenda and is currently waiting for the US response to the proposal delivered via Qatar. Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi will return home on Tuesday after completing his scheduled itinerary.
