[SMM PV News] Gansu 11 GW New Energy Base Project Approved

Recently, the Gansu Badain Jaran Desert base 11 million kW new energy project of Longyuan Power, a subsidiary of CHN Energy, officially received project approval from the group company, laying the foundation for the project's lawful and compliant development.

The project is located in Jinta County, Jiuquan City, and Gaotai County, Zhangye City, Gansu Province. It is a key project of the national desert-Gobi-wasteland large-scale wind and PV base, as well as an important supporting power source project for the "Longdian into Sichuan" ±800 kV UHVDC transmission project.

The project is planned to have a total installed capacity of 11 million kW, including 4.3 million kW of wind power and 6.7 million kW of PV power generation. Public information shows that the base project is also equipped with 4 million kW of peak-shaving thermal power, 1.4 million kW/5.6 million kWh of energy storage, and an additional 200,000 kW of solar thermal power, achieving cross-provincial power consumption through UHV transmission channels.

The planned scale of the PV plant for this project is an AC-side installed capacity of 1,491.3 MW and a DC-side installed capacity of 1,514.71894 MW. The power generation system adopts a block-based generation and centralized grid connection approach, with all generation units using string inverters and a centralized step-up scheme.

[SMM PV Flash] China Power Construction 80 MW PV Project Announced

On September 16, the Aba Prefecture Ecological Environment Bureau of Sichuan Province issued a public notice on the proposed approval of the environmental impact assessment documents for the Washe Hydropower-PV Integrated Photovoltaic Power Generation Project in Heishui County. According to the public notice, the Washe Hydropower-PV Integrated Photovoltaic Power Generation Project is located in Washeliangzi Township, Heishui County, Aba Prefecture. The project involves the construction of a new 80MW PV field area, with an installed capacity of 99.4MWp, an AC-side system capacity of 80MW, and a capacity ratio of 1.24. The project developer is Aba Hydropower Development Co., Ltd., whose controlling shareholder is China Power Construction Hydropower Development Group Co., Ltd.

[SMM PV Flash] Low Carbon Unveils 500 MW West Oxfordshire Solar-and-Storage Plan

Low Carbon has unveiled early-stage plans for the 500 MW West Oxfordshire Energy Park, combining solar generation with battery storage and associated electrical infrastructure; the storage capacity has not yet been disclosed. Public consultation is planned for early 2027, and the project will require a Development Consent Order as a Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project. If approved, the development could generate electricity equivalent to the annual demand of around 145,000 homes and avoid up to 154,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions each year.
