From August 1, 2026 to August 31, 2026, SMM statistics showed that enterprises in China won bids for a total of 141 PV module projects, of which 92 disclosed winning bid capacity, totaling 11.64 GW, a decrease of 0.49 GW compared with the previous statistical period. Thirty-eight enterprises disclosed winning bid prices, with winning bid prices concentrated in the range of 0.66–0.86 yuan/W, and the procurement weighted average price was 0.687 yuan/W, down 0.089 yuan/W from the previous statistical period.

I. Overview

From August 1, 2026 to August 31, 2026, SMM recorded a total of 141 PV module awarded projects in China. After data processing, 92 projects disclosed awarded installed capacity, 38 projects disclosed awarded installed capacity prices, and the main module type procured and finalized was N-type modules. Within the current statistical period, the main winning enterprises for non-centralised procurement standalone projects included Hoyuan Green Energy, Jinko Solar, Changzhou Dianduoduo, Hunan Changjiao Donghong, Hunan Red Solar, Yingli Energy, and others. Representative non-centralised procurement projects included: Hoyuan Green Energy Co., Ltd. winning the 722.61 MW "Inner Mongolia Jungar Banner Light Source 600 MW PV Project PV Module Equipment Procurement" at an average price of 0.70 yuan/W; Jinko Solar Co., Ltd. winning the 182.03 MW "Zhonggong Wuda Energy Construction Investment (Hubei) Co., Ltd. Xinxia Shashi District Guanyindang (Phase I) 140 MW Fishery-Solar Hybrid PV Project" at an average price of 0.69 yuan/W; and Changzhou Dianduoduo Energy Technology Co., Ltd. winning the 126.26 MW "Lanxi City Meijiang Town 100 MW Centralized PV Power Generation Project PV Module Procurement Project (Re-tender)" at an average price of 0.69 yuan/W.

In terms of framework procurement projects, the total scale of framework procurement projects in China in August was approximately 5,618 MW, involving multiple centralised procurement projects such as China Resources Power, Hunan Company, and Huaneng Sichuan. Among them, China Resources Power's 2026 annual PV project PV module equipment centralised procurement project had a total scale of 5,400 MW, divided into three bid packages. GCL SI won Package 1 of 1,600 MW at an average price of 0.66 yuan/W; JA Solar Technology Co., Ltd. won Package 1 of 1,400 MW at an average price of 0.70 yuan/W; Changzhou Huayao Optoelectronics Technology Co., Ltd. won Package 2 of 1,200 MW at an average price of 0.69 yuan/W; GCL SI won Package 2 of 800 MW at an average price of 0.67 yuan/W; and JA Solar Technology Co., Ltd. won Package 3 of 400 MW at an average price of 0.71 yuan/W. In addition, in the Hunan Company 2026 (first batch) PV module procurement project, Jinko Solar Co., Ltd. won 133.36 MW at an average price of 0.76 yuan/W, and JA Solar Technology Co., Ltd. won 83.84 MW at an average price of 0.68 yuan/W. In the Huaneng Sichuan 20260716 Daofu Company Yari PV module centralised procurement project, ZNShine PV-Tech Co., Ltd. won 0.89 MW at an average price of 0.70 yuan/W.

In terms of regional distribution by section, the region with the highest awarded capacity in the current statistical period was Heilongjiang at 2,604.90 MW, accounting for 22.4%, followed by Chongqing at 2,405.29 MW, accounting for 20.7%, Inner Mongolia at 1,843.52 MW, accounting for 15.8%, and Sichuan at 1,302.55 MW, accounting for 11.2%.

Unlike July, when Beijing dominated with a share of nearly 48%, the provincial distribution in August was more balanced, with the top four provinces accounting for about 70% combined. Heilongjiang and Chongqing ranked near the top, mainly boosted by China Resources Power's 2026 annual PV module concentrated procurement project, which saw relatively large-scale packages awarded in both regions; Inner Mongolia and Sichuan were dominated by large centralized PV power station projects. Overall, projects awarded in August were mainly concentrated in north-east, south-west, and north-west China, while project scale in east China and south China was relatively small.

[SMM PV Flash] Comstock Moves US Solar-Panel Recycling Line to Continuous 24/7 Operations
Comstock Metals announced on 22 September that its solar-panel recycling system in Silver Springs, Nevada, had moved to continuous 24-hour, seven-day operations, advancing from equipment integration and commissioning into continuous production. One line is designed to process up to approximately 100,000 tonnes, or around 3.3 million end-of-life modules, annually while separating aluminium, glass and silicon- and metal-bearing materials under a zero-landfill model. The 100,000-tonne figure is rated design capacity rather than current output, and the company remains in the process of ramping production in line with customer volumes.
