[SMM PV Flash] Croatia temporarily closes €38 million household renewables subsidy call amid strong demand

Published: Sep 15, 2026 09:14
Croatia’s €38 million household renewable-energy subsidy call was temporarily closed only two days after opening, after receiving 9,320 applications. Around 8,300 applications involved rooftop solar PV, while 1,460 also included battery storage. The scheme covers residential solar, heat pumps and storage, with support of up to 50% of eligible investment costs for standard households and up to 70% for energy-poor households. SMM believes the rapid closure highlights robust demand for self-consumption solar and storage, while also indicating that current funding remains limited relative to distributed-energy demand.

Spain’s Ministry for Ecological Transition has launched a process to allocate 937MW of grid-access capacity for renewable energy and storage projects in Teruel. The projects would connect to the Mudéjar 400kV substation as the region transitions from retiring lignite-fired capacity. Project maturity and local socioeconomic contribution will be key selection criteria, with submissions due September 22.
