Nord Precious Metals Reports New Castle East Drill Results, Confirming Multiple Silver-Cobalt Mineralized Intervals

According to overseas media reports on September 9, Eurasian Resources Group (ERG) said its Metalkol copper-cobalt project near Kolwezi in the Democratic Republic of Congo has once again been occupied by illegal miners since August 21, with armed individuals and unauthorized miners reported at the site. ERG estimates that around 700 tonnes of tailings are currently being excavated and transported away by truck each day, with some of the material reportedly sent to nearby processing facilities. Due to security risks, Metalkol is currently unable to access parts of the affected area. ERG said a similar incident occurred earlier this year and was subsequently brought under control, making the latest occupation a renewed disruption. Metalkol holds rights to reprocess more than 100 million tonnes of historical tailings and is one of the DRC’s key copper-cobalt projects. Congolese mining authorities are aware of the situation and said measures are being taken to seek a long-term solution. If the disruption continues, it could affect control over the project’s tailings resources, normal operations and future cobalt production plans.

Century Lithium announced on September 9 that it has submitted a Mine Plan of Operations to the U.S. Bureau of Land Management for its Angel Island lithium project in Nevada, together with a Nevada Reclamation Permit application, advancing the project into formal permitting. The next stage is expected to include federal environmental review, including the BLM-led Environmental Impact Statement process. Century Lithium targets completion of the principal environmental review and permitting around Q1 2028, followed by construction. The feasibility study outlines an approximately 40-year mine life and average production of around 26,500 mt/year of battery-grade lithium carbonate. The project remains in permitting and has not entered commercial production.

Indian battery materials and recycling company LOHUM announced on September 9 that it has completed its first lithium shipment from its mining assets in Matabeleland South Province, Zimbabwe, marking the start of physical shipments from its overseas upstream lithium operations. LOHUM holds interests in 10 spodumene-bearing mining blocks covering approximately 1,100 hectares, with options to acquire interests in up to 90 additional surrounding blocks. The company also plans to establish local processing capacity in Zimbabwe. The volume, grade and final destination of the first shipment have not yet been disclosed.
