European natural gas futures prices rise to highest level since 2023
On September 2, the Dutch Title Transfer Facility (TTF) natural gas futures price, which serves as the European benchmark price, rose to €75 per megawatt hour, reaching its highest level since 2023. On September 1, the US military launched a new round of strikes against Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps targets inside Iran, and international crude oil futures prices rose significantly that day. Analysts believe that if tensions in the Middle East persist, energy price fluctuations will intensify further. Mike Bell, head of market strategy at RBC BlueBay Asset Management, said the industry's expectations that the war in Iran would end before Christmas are fading rapidly.
