China's August 2026 Copper Imports Hit Six-Year Low

According to customs data, China imported 382,000 mt of unwrought copper and copper semis in August 2026, with cumulative imports from January to August reaching 3.297 million mt, down 6.7% YoY. China's imports of unwrought copper and copper semis in August 2026 were at a low for the same period over the past six years, and with the copper cathode export window open in August, net imports are expected to also be at a low for the same period.
