Today in North China, spot #1 copper cathode against the front-month contract was quoted at a discount of 80 yuan/mt to a premium of 40 yuan/mt, with an average discount of 20 yuan/mt, down 70 yuan/mt from the previous trading day. The average transaction price was 111,070 yuan/mt, up 1,340 yuan/mt from the previous trading day. Futures shot up sharply, and high copper prices suppressed downstream purchase willingness, with the market supported only by rigid demand. Suppliers' willingness to sell continued to rise, spot premiums in North China fell further, and market activity kept cooling. Today, the purchase sentiment for copper cathode in North China was 1.69, down 0.03 from the previous trading day, while the shipment sentiment was 2.76, up 0.04 from the previous trading day.
