Colombia’s Minister of Mines Maria Nohemi Arboleda said the government has repealed by decree 10 resolutions that restricted exploration and extraction of natural resources in specific areas of the country. The resolutions were issued by the previous left-wing government. Newly inaugurated right-wing President Abelardo De La Espriella has pledged to ease policies restricting oil and mining development to boost the economy. Some of the promised reforms can be implemented by decree, including streamlining procedures, shortening permit approval times, and improving consultation processes with communities.
