SMM, September 4:

China's waste lead-acid battery market prices held steady today, with smelters and recyclers both quoting unchanged prices. After the concentrated selling by suppliers triggered by the lead price pullback at the start of the week was largely released, scrap battery quotes have stabilized in recent days. Some suppliers have turned to a wait-and-see stance, with selling slowing down. Recyclers reported that recyclable volumes in recent days have decreased by 20%-30% compared with the start of the week, but overall available supply remains tight. Scrap battery prices are expected to remain stable and move sideways in the short term. Attention should be paid to whether lead prices hold the 16,000 yuan mark, subsequent purchase price adjustments by smelters, and changes in supplier selling pace and smelter arrivals.
