Sep 1 Scrap Battery Market Trading Summary [SMM Daily Review]

SMM, September 1:

Today, the domestic waste lead-acid battery market remained generally stable. Smelters' purchase quotes were basically flat, with only a few smelters making slight upward adjustments to align with regional purchase prices. Recyclers' buying quotes were also unchanged. Affected by the sharp pullback in SHFE lead overnight, recycler sentiment shifted somewhat. The earlier mentality of holding back from selling in anticipation of higher prices cooled, and some recyclers, worried about further declines in lead prices, accelerated their selling pace and proactively reduced inventory. However, overall available supply in the market has not yet become notably looser. In the short term, scrap battery prices are expected to shift to a stable, wait-and-see mode, with close attention needed on the extent of the lead price pullback, the sustainability of recycler selling, and changes in smelter arrivals.
