Southeast Asia 6063 aluminum billet premiums were largely steady through August, based on SMM DataPro’s weekly premium assessments through August 28, 2026. Cambodia homogenized billet held at $275-325/mt, with the midpoint at $300/mt, while Malaysia homogenized billet stayed at $250-275/mt, midpoint $262.5/mt. Thailand homogenized billet was unchanged through August at $210-250/mt, midpoint $230/mt, and Thailand non-homogenized billet held at $170-210/mt, midpoint $190/mt.
Vietnam was the only market to show a clear August adjustment. Its non-homogenized 6063 billet premium moved down from $190-220/mt, midpoint $205/mt, to $175-220/mt, midpoint $197.5/mt, from the August 21 assessment onward. The CIF Thailand premium/discount for Chinese-origin non-homogenized 6063 billet stayed at -$100 to +$100/mt, midpoint $0/mt, underscoring continued delivered-price competition against local Southeast Asian billet.
Overall, the August premium structure pointed to a defensive market: headline premiums were mostly stable, but the lack of upward movement, Vietnam’s lower-end adjustment, and persistent China export competition suggested weak buying momentum and continued pressure on sellers to stay flexible.
