Trump Admin Rejects Returning to U.S.-Iran MOU, Complicating Diplomatic Efforts

The Trump administration has repeatedly told mediators that it has no intention of returning to the terms of the June U.S.-Iran memorandum of understanding, people familiar said, throwing up major obstacles to this week’s intensive diplomatic efforts to restart the process. Iran’s Supreme National Security Council secretary Rezaei stated that Tehran has prepared a list of conditions for the U.S. While temporary passage through specific channels in the middle of the Strait of Hormuz is currently allowed, future access will be contingent on a signed memorandum with the U.S.
