Weekly Magnesium Output Drops 1.62% MoM, Supply Reduction Continues Amid Plant Maintenance
【SMM Weekly Magnesium Output Flash Report】From August 14 to August 20, the weekly output of national sample magnesium plants stood at 23,580 tons, with a weekly operating rate of 77.36%, down 1.62% month-on-month. According to research, the reduction in primary magnesium supply continued this week: a new smelting enterprise in the main production regions adopted a rotational maintenance approach, while multiple manufacturers in Xinjiang remained in a shutdown and maintenance state. The combination of the two factors led to a larger reduction than increment in overall output, resulting in a downward trend in weekly output. However, as two manufacturers in the main production regions resume production one after another next week, the weekly output is expected to turn upward.
