SMM, August 27:
the most-traded SHFE zinc 2610 contract opened at 26,460 yuan/mt. After opening, SHFE zinc drifted higher, hitting a high of 26,745 yuan/mt during the session, then continuously pulled back from highs. At the end of the session, SHFE zinc dipped to a low of 26,125 yuan/mt, finally closing down at 26,140 yuan/mt, down 290 yuan/mt or 1.1%. Trading volume increased to 160,000 lots, while open interest decreased by 3,058 lots to 166,000 lots. SHFE zinc recorded a bearish candlestick, with support from the 10-day moving average below. Fundamentally, the ore supply tightness persisted, and TCs continued to slide. However, domestic demand remained sluggish, and bulls reduced positions at highs, causing SHFE zinc to pull back notably during the session. It is expected to maintain a consolidation pattern in the short term.
