Recently, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region released the economic performance of its energy sector in H1 2026. From January to June, the region's energy industry maintained stable growth with sufficient supply of energy products. Green hydrogen production reached 8,233 mt, up 137% YoY, demonstrating rapid growth momentum.
Since the beginning of this year, the Energy Bureau of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region has closely followed the "1571" work plan of the regional Party committee, serving the overall development of the region. It actively addressed multiple challenges including insufficient effective demand and complex external environments, promoting steady improvement in energy economic performance.
Data shows that in H1, the added value of Inner Mongolia's energy industry increased 5.7% YoY, contributing over 50% to the growth of industries above designated size, continuing to play a vital supporting role.
Production of major energy products maintained growth. From January to June, the region's coal production reached 659 million mt (up 3.1% YoY), power generation totaled 415.1 billion kWh (up 2.7% YoY), and total electricity consumption stood at 285.2 billion kWh (up 7.3% YoY).
Overall, Inner Mongolia's energy supply capacity remained stable in H1, with orderly growth in traditional energy production (coal and power) and accelerated development of emerging energy industries like green hydrogen. The energy economy continued to provide strong support for the region's industrial growth.
