Recently, Baima Lake Laboratory, located in Binjiang District, Hangzhou, made significant progress in the field of solid-state batteries. The research team adopted a boride electrolyte route and successfully developed a solid-state battery capable of stable operation over a wide temperature range from -20°C to 120°C. Test data show that the battery has an energy density of 400 Wh/kg, a cycle life of over 2,000 cycles, and can withstand a high temperature of 180°C in hot box safety tests.
To address the industry pain points of low ion conduction efficiency in solid-state batteries and the need to apply external pressure of over 40 MPa, the team, through an innovative integrated structure of the negative electrode and electrolyte layer, reduced the required external pressure for operation to below 5 MPa. In early 2026, the team successfully trial-produced a large-capacity battery cell of 20 Ah, which can increase the drone driving range by 30% to 40% under the same volume. The technology has targeted three major application directions: low-altitude unmanned aerial vehicles, embodied AI robots, and high-end 3C products.
