CAMALCO to Begin Rail Transport of Bauxite to Douala Port Soon

Published: Aug 7, 2026 21:49
According to a report on July 28, CAMALCO, the Cameroon subsidiary of Australian mining company Canyon Resources, plans to start transporting bauxite from the Minim Martap project by rail to the port of Douala in the coming days. The seven locomotives purchased for this operation are currently undergoing testing, and as mining activities progress, more freight cars are expected to be purchased to expand the fleet. The Ministry of Transport did not disclose the exact start date or specify whether the first shipment would be a trial run or a commercial transport. The announcement concerns the inland transport of bauxite and does not mean that maritime exports from Douala will start simultaneously.
