[SMM Computing Power Midday Review] H100 Highest Price in Western Region Rises, Computing Power Shortage Pressure Spreads to 5090 Procurement and Rental Sides

Published: Aug 4, 2026 11:37
The highest monthly rental price for H100 in the western region rose to 79,500 yuan (up 0.63%), and the highest per-card hourly rate rose to 13.15 yuan (up 0.31%), with the supply tightness continuing. The scarcity of computing power has worsened NVIDIA server leasing liquidity, and the pressure has already transmitted to servers loaded with GPUs such as the 5090. Procurement prices for the 5090 and Pro 6000 are expected to peak within 1–2 weeks.

[Market Overview] This morning, the highest price of H100 in the western region continued to rise. The highest monthly rental for the SMM H100-80G full system in the western region rose from 79,000 yuan to 79,500 yuan, equivalent to a highest card-hour rate of 13.15 yuan. Against the backdrop of tight computing power resources, the liquidity of Nvidia server rentals deteriorated, and the pressure for price increases is being transmitted along the industry chain to the purchasing end of servers equipped with GPUs like the 5090.

[H100 Western Region: Highest Price Continues to Rise, Tight Supply Pattern Further Intensifies] The highest monthly rental for the SMM H100-80G full system in the western region rose from 79,000 yuan to 79,500 yuan, an increase of 500 yuan, or 0.63%; the highest card-hour rate rose from 13.11 yuan to 13.15 yuan, up 0.04 yuan, or 0.31%. Although the increase was mild, it confirms the logic of tight supply: overall computing power resources are tight, liquidity of Nvidia servers in the rental market has deteriorated, readily deliverable spot cargoes are becoming increasingly scarce, and lessors are holding back from selling, pushing up their quotes. More critically, pressure from the rental side is being transmitted downstream, with server quotes for those equipped with Nvidia GPUs like the 5090 rising in tandem.

[SMM View] This round of increases is a continuation of the "resource tightness—liquidity deterioration—price rise" chain. Two points need attention: First, the purchase prices of 5090 and Pro 6000 equipment are rising in tandem with rental pressure, and are expected to reach a short-term peak within one to two weeks. Buyers should lock in supply sources early to avoid chasing higher prices. Second, worsening liquidity means the rental market is strengthening the current "seller's market," with holders' bargaining power increasing, making it difficult to break the high price situation in the short term. Whether a turning point occurs depends on the pace of new compliant supply releases. It is recommended to continuously monitor the marginal changes in purchase prices and spot supply.

[SMM Computing Power Flash] H200 Batch Quotation Hits 135,000/Unit, Channel Warns of Risks
SMM has learned that a source from an operator's channel said the price of H200 eight-card servers has been continuously rising and "is no longer cost-effective," estimating the current actual transaction range to be between 115,000 and 125,000 yuan per unit, and reporting that a leading computing power supplier's quoted price has reached 130,000 yuan per unit. Meanwhile, a batch quotation of 256 units with a three-year closed contract at 135,000 yuan per unit emerged in the market. The channel source said it was quoted by someone from a publicly listed firm, but judged that there were many intermediary links or possible self-circulating transfers, casting doubt on the authenticity of the large-scale quotation. Another low-price quotation for 128 units under a closed long-term agreement (98,000 yuan per unit for three years, 96,000 yuan per unit for five years, plus brokerage fees) has been questioned as false information. The coexistence of sporadic H200 deals reaching 130,000 yuan per unit and widely circulating high-price large-volume quotes has intensified price divergence, reflecting channel holdbacks from selling and price spikes amid tight high-end computing power supply.

SK Hynix and SanDisk Introduce First HBF Specs, Expanding Next-Gen Memory Tech Alliance
SK Hynix issued a statement saying that SK Hynix and SanDisk have introduced the industry's first set of standard specifications for High Bandwidth Flash (HBF), a next-generation memory technology. The two enterprises achieved this milestone about six months after forming an alliance. Google and Tenstorrent have also joined the HBF Alliance. HBF is a new-type memory tier between High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) and solid-state drives (SSDs); it combines data transfer capabilities close to those of HBM while leveraging NAND flash technology to significantly expand storage capacity.

[SMM Computing Power Flash News] High-end Computing Power Procurement Converged with Bulk Commodity Trade, Fake Supply Source Information Disrupted the Market
SMM believes that the procurement of high-end computing servers is taking on characteristics of commodity trade, with the core being the control and supply capability of scarce resources. Currently, the number of entities with genuine supply capabilities is limited. Some market participants use false information and unverifiable “server delivery certainty” to pose as supply sources, misleading both parties to the transaction. SMM believes that the scarcity attribute magnifies information asymmetry, and buyers must verify the authenticity of supply sources through delivery capabilities and contract closure and beware of futures-like commitments.
