[Storage: Inner Mongolia’s Ulanqab selects 1.1GW/4.4GWh independent storage projects]

Ulanqab in Inner Mongolia has selected five companies to develop 1.1GW/4.4GWh of independent new energy storage projects. The projects will be located in Chahar Right Rear Banner and Siziwang Banner, structured as five four-hour storage stations with individual sizes of 200MW/800MWh or 300MW/1,200MWh. They will connect to the Sudun, Hongliang and Ruisheng 500kV substations. The selection rules require all projects to use grid-forming storage technology and encourage long-duration and alternative technologies such as compressed air storage, vanadium redox flow batteries and sodium-ion batteries, rather than relying only on conventional LFP systems. All projects must be fully commissioned by the end of 2027.

On July 30, the Department of Electronic Information of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology organized a symposium for the PV industry, focusing on the three recently released mandatory national standards—*Safety Requirements for PV Modules*, *Nameplate Labeling Requirements for PV Modules*, and *Energy Efficiency Limits and Energy Efficiency Grades for Crystalline Silicon PV Modules and Inverters*—to conduct centralized Q&A, address industry concerns, and plan key next steps. The meeting invited PV manufacturing enterprises, testing organizations, standardization bodies, metrology institutions, and other entities to participate, and held in-depth exchanges on interpreting standard clauses, unifying testing methods, and metrological traceability requirements. Experts from the standard drafting group provided point-by-point responses and systematic explanations to the key and difficult issues of common concern to enterprises, helping them accurately grasp the core essence of the standards, eliminate misunderstandings, and ensure faithful implementation of the standards.

[Solar: Bangladesh launches tender for 220MW Sonagazi PV project]
State-owned Electricity Generation Bangladesh has issued a tender for the design, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of the 220MW Sonagazi solar project in Feni district, southeastern Bangladesh. The project was approved last December after receiving backing from the Islamic Development Bank. The selected developer will have 18 months to complete construction, with bids due by Sept. 15 and a bid security requirement of BDT 310 million or USD 2.5 million. IRENA data show Bangladesh’s solar capacity reached 1.146GW by the end of last year, up 300MW from the previous year.
