On July 28, the pre-selection results for the centralized PV module procurement supplier program for Shenzhen Energy Group's affiliated enterprises, covering 2026-2028, were announced. The shortlisted enterprises are TCL Zhonghuan Energy Technology (Jiangsu) Co., Ltd., Gokin Solar Co., Ltd., Hoyuan Green Energy Co., Ltd., Jinko Solar Co., Ltd., Shenzhen Qiming Solar Technology Co., Ltd., TrinaSolar Co., Ltd., Tongwei Co., Ltd., Zhejiang AIKO Solar Energy Technology Co., Ltd., Chint New Energy Technology Co., Ltd., and CECEP Solar Energy Technology (Zhenjiang) Co., Ltd.

This project is for the supplier pre-selection of centralized PV module procurement for Shenzhen Energy Group's affiliated enterprises from 2026 to 2028, aiming to establish a centralized procurement supplier pre-selection database with a two-year validity period. The estimated total procurement volume is approximately 1GW, and the actual procurement quantity and amount will be based on the sales contracts signed between end users and awarded suppliers. This tender does not commit to a specific procurement volume. During the validity period, end users will determine awarded suppliers from the pre-selection database through a two-stage procurement method based on actual project needs, with evaluation conducted via a comprehensive scoring method.

The project is divided into two sections, both utilizing bifacial module technology with no restrictions on solar cell size. The specific requirements are as follows:

Section 1: Procurement of N-type standard modules, with a module photoelectric conversion efficiency of no less than 22.8% and a single module power of no less than 615W;

Section 2: Procurement of N-type high-efficiency modules, with a module photoelectric conversion efficiency of no less than 23.8% and a single module power of no less than 640W.

Bidders may choose to participate in one or all sections and must provide a complete response to all content within the selected section(s) without any omissions, otherwise the bid will be invalidated. Upon winning, suppliers will be entered into the database by section. The number of pre-selected suppliers for each section ranges from 3 to 8, determined based on the number of valid bidders with a 20% elimination rate, capped at 8. If the number of winning candidates is fewer than 3, the tender for this instance will fail.

Loss-Driven Supply Reduction Heats Up Industrial Silicon Long-Short Game[SMM Analysis]
Overall, upstream producers support prices amid losses with rising factory inventories, midstream traders destock continuously , while downstream purchasers insist on low-price procurement. The multi-dimensional market game has weakened overall trading liquidity. Costs form a solid bottom support for spot prices, while high factory inventories and sluggish off-season demand cap upward price momentum. Sustained market downturns may trigger further active production cuts on the supply side.

Northam Platinum Joins Sibanye-Stillwater & Bengwenyama in Scaling Up Chrome as PGM Producers Chase a New Revenue Stream
[SMM Express] Recent developments across Northam Platinum, Sibanye-Stillwater and Southern Palladium indicate that South Africa's platinum group metals (PGM) producers are increasingly positioning chrome as a strategic co-product rather than merely a by-product, reflecting a broader shift across the Bushveld Complex. Northam recently reported record chrome concentrate production of 1.69 million mt in FY2026, up 17.4% year-on-year, while Sibanye-Stillwater plans to expand chrome production to 2.3 million mt/y by 2033 and Southern Palladium's Bengwenyama Project has nearly tripled projected chrome output through improved chromite recovery, underscoring chrome's growing contribution to project economics and revenue diversification. The trend is further reinforced by Merafe Resources' H1 2026 Trading Statement, in which the company expects significantly stronger interim earnings despite a 75% year-on-year decline in ferrochrome production, supported by higher commodity prices and increased sales volumes. SMM believes these developments point to a broader structural shift within South Africa's PGM sector, with producers increasingly leveraging chrome to strengthen earnings resilience, diversify revenue streams and enhance the long-term value of UG2 operations across the country's chromium value chain.

Nigerian Tantalum Concentrate Market: Pricing, Grades and Buyers
[SMM Research]   Nigeria remains a key supplier of tantalum concentrate, with exports largely priced on an FOB basis and driven by strong Chinese demand. Concentrate grades vary widely, with higher Ta₂O₅ content commanding significant premiums. Artisanal mining dominates supply, while informal trade continues to limit market transparency. SMM's research indicates that first-hand market intelligence remains essential for assessing pricing, quality and evolving supply chains.
