[SMM Steel] India Steel Index Holds Steady as Project Orders Improve

Published: Jul 27, 2026 16:40
[India] India’s composite steel index was unchanged week on week. BF-route rebar rose by about USD 8/tonne to approximately USD 506/tonne ex-Mumbai, excluding 18% GST, while HRC held near USD 600/tonne and CRC slipped to around USD 674/tonne. Improving infrastructure project bookings and planned mill maintenance in August may tighten availability, although liquidity constraints continue to keep spot procurement largely need-based.
