SMM, July 24:

According to the latest customs data, in terms of galvanized sheet, June 2026 galvanized sheet exports were 1.0718 million mt, down 11.24% MoM, down 5.26% YoY. January-June cumulative galvanized sheet exports totaled 6.7066 million mt, down 3.13% YoY.

By country, Thailand imported 158,000 mt of Chinese galvanized sheet in June, accounting for 14.75%, ranking first; the Philippines imported 151,000 mt, accounting for 14.1%, ranking second; Vietnam imported 79,000 mt, ranking third.

June galvanized sheet exports edged down from May, broadly in line with prior market expectations. It is understood that South Korea's anti-dumping duty on Chinese galvanized sheet took effect on June 17, and enterprises reported that orders for Chinese galvanized sheet to South Korea subsequently declined. From the export data, South Korea's imports of Chinese galvanized sheet in June fell sharply by nearly 100,000 mt, accounting for the bulk of the decline in June.

Entering July, the US-Iran situation has escalated sharply recently, with Iran announcing a total blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, significantly reducing shipping traffic through the strait. Market sources indicate that some domestic galvanized sheet orders destined for the Middle East have yet to recover. Additionally, the rainy season in Southeast Asia is affecting end-use consumption, and the wave of anti-dumping measures persists. Taking into account domestic galvanized sheet mill orders, July galvanized sheet exports are unlikely to see a notable rebound.

Ningbo Zinc Market Sees Mixed Trading as Prices Fluctuate and Demand Remains Weak
【Ningbo Refined Zinc Market】SHFE zinc prices traded at relatively low levels early in the week, encouraging some downstream consumers to purchase on a pricing basis. However, as zinc prices rebounded, buyers turned more cautious and largely stayed on the sidelines. Combined with weak overall demand for zinc ingots, spot trading remained sluggish, while traders adopted a more passive selling strategy. As a result, Ningbo spot premiums rose initially before easing later in the week.
