[SMM Iron Ore] 23 June - Port inventory destocking continues, and the four major iron ore varieties show divergence

According to the SMM survey, on July 23, the total inventory across 10 ports tracked by SMM was 105.63 million mt, down 640,000 mt WoW. Concentrates and lumps saw slight destocking, while fines and pellet showed slight inventory buildup.

Itochu and BHP Greenlight Ministers North Iron Ore Mine
Itochu, BHP Group, and Mitsui have reached a final investment decision to construct the Ministers North iron ore deposit in Western Australia. The joint venture, owned 85% by BHP, 8% by Itochu, and 7% by Mitsui, targets an annual output capacity of 20 million tonnes. Production is scheduled to begin in the second half of 2028, utilizing existing infrastructure from the nearby Yandi mine to replace its depleting reserves.
