[Vale: Autoclave Arrives at the Sambalagi HPAL Project Site] On July 22, 2026, the key equipment—the autoclave—for the HPAL (High Pressure Acid Leach) project in the Sambalagi area of Morowali, Central Sulawesi Province, Indonesia, arrived, marking an important phase of construction. The project is designed to produce approximately 90,000 mt Ni of mixed hydroxide precipitate (MHP) annually, sourcing raw material from the Bahodopi mine. It comprises three production lines, with the first line targeted for mechanical completion by the end of 2026.
The project is being jointly developed by PT Vale Indonesia Tbk and its partners GEM Co., Ltd. (China) and EcoPro (South Korea) through the joint venture PT BNSI. It is an Indonesian strategic national project and forms part of the Indonesia Growth Project (IGP) Morowali, aiming to advance downstream nickel processing and the EV battery supply chain.
