EDM Resources Secures Key Approval for Scotia Zinc Mine Restart, Targets 2027 Production

Published: Jul 22, 2026 09:19

EDM Resources has received an amended industrial approval from Nova Scotia’s Department of Environment and Climate Change for the planned restart of the Scotia zinc mine. The approval covers revisions to the mine layout, processing facilities, waste rock and tailings management systems, and supports the company’s updated pre-feasibility study.

Located approximately 60 km northeast of Halifax, the past-producing Scotia mine is targeting a restart in 2027 and is expected to become Nova Scotia’s only primary zinc producer. EDM Resources is currently advancing federal Fisheries Act authorization, an updated mineral resource estimate, project financing and discussions with potential concentrate offtake partners.
