[SMM Aluminum Express News] Impact Minerals will release 11.99 million escrowed shares on 27 July that were issued as consideration for acquiring an 80% interest in the Lake Hope High Purity Alumina (HPA) Project in Western Australia. A further 2.37 million shares will remain in escrow until 13 November 2026, with the release representing an increase in the company's free float rather than a new share issuance. Lake Hope is Impact Minerals' flagship HPA project, targeting high-purity alumina production for battery, semiconductor and advanced ceramics markets. The company has been advancing feasibility work and pilot plant development as it seeks to commercialize its proprietary HPA processing technology.

Indonesia's Bauxite Investment Surges 193%, Overtakes Nickel as Top Mineral Sector
[SMM Aluminum Express News] Indonesia's bauxite downstream investment surged 193% quarter on quarter to Rp40.1 trillion in the second quarter of 2026, overtaking nickel as the country's largest mineral downstream investment segment for the first time, according to Investment Minister Rosan Roeslani. The increase was driven by the construction of new bauxite processing projects by both domestic and foreign investors. Total downstream investment reached Rp152.7 trillion during the quarter, up 5.7% year on year and accounting for 29.8% of Indonesia's total investment realization. Rosan said the shift reflects accelerating investment in the bauxite-to-alumina value chain as new processing facilities continue to be developed.

Indian Aluminum Association Urges Policy Reforms Amid Rising Imports and Tariff Uncertainties
[SMM Aluminum Express News] The Aluminium Extrusion Manufacturers Association of India (ALEMAI) has urged the government to introduce urgent policy reforms to strengthen the domestic aluminum extrusion industry amid rising import pressure and global tariff uncertainties. The association called for rationalizing tariffs on raw materials, reviewing FTA-driven duty-free imports of value-added aluminum products, lowering energy and financing costs, and increasing domestic aluminum billet availability to improve industry competitiveness. ALEMAI said India's aluminum extrusion industry has an installed capacity of around 3 million tonnes per year but is operating at only about 1.2 million tonnes, while imports exceed 1.5 million tonnes annually. The association expects demand to grow with infrastructure, automotive and renewable energy development, but warned that policy support is needed to improve capacity utilization and protect domestic manufacturers.
