[Taiwan's steel mills secure rebar orders without halting sales]

Published: Jul 14, 2026 16:45
Rebar buyers in Taiwan have begun releasing orders, allowing domestic steel mills to secure notable volumes. Feng Hsin Steel reportedly captured 20,000 tonnes of orders, while a Kaohsiung-based steelmaker secured over 10,000 tonnes. Despite these bookings, manufacturers show no signs of suspending sales, as some distributors in southern Taiwan remain hesitant to enter the market. These volumes represent a limited release after ten weeks without major orders, offering only modest relief to high-capacity mills. Downstream purchasing patterns now reflect slower inventory depletion rather than pure financial considerations. Buyers have adopted a low-volume purchasing model, limiting acquisitions to quantities they can readily resell.

[SMM Steel] Indonesian Wire Rod Prices Remain Low
[Indonesia] Indonesian wire rod prices are currently stable at 475 USD/metric ton FOB. These prices are no longer fluctuating within the range seen in previous days, as mills in Indonesia are ready to offer buyers a price of 475 USD/metric ton FOB. This is due to pressure, primarily from Chinese products, which continue to experience price declines and have successfully pushed Indonesian wire rod prices lower. However, barring any additional pressure, this may be the lowest price, as some Chinese steel mills are only able to sell at 480 USD/metric ton; thus, pressure on Indonesian prices may ease slightly going forward.
