US Rare Earths to Invest Over $203M in France for Rare Earth Expansion by 2030

U.S. rare earth developer U.S. Rare Earths (USAR) plans to invest more than $203 million in France by 2030 to expand capacity for rare earth element separation, metals, alloys and magnet manufacturing. USAR said on Monday this expansion builds on French initiatives, including the LCM rare earth metal and alloy production facility in Lacq, an investment in Carester SAS, and investment from European private investment platform InfraVia Capital Partners.

[SMM Rare Earth Daily Review: Rare Earth Prices Rise Overall, Terbium and Holmium Prices Continue to Climb] Overall, Pr-Nd product prices were affected by the rise in futures prices, with suppliers' willingness to sell at low prices weakening and spot offers being slightly raised. Terbium and holmium market prices continued to climb, while dysprosium and gadolinium product prices remained relatively stable. It is expected that in the short term, driven by bullish market sentiment, Pr-Nd product prices may drift higher.

South Korea to Import Mongolian Rare Earths Tariff-Free Under CEPA Agreement
South Korean President Lee Jae-myung held a summit with Mongolian President Khurelsukh at the government complex in Ulaanbaatar and announced the conclusion in principle of a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) through a joint declaration. As a result, South Korea will immediately eliminate the 2–5% import tariffs previously imposed on Mongolian copper, molybdenum and rare earths.
