Recycling Industry Events This Week (April 4.20-4.24)

This week's recycling industry events:

Annual Processing of 50,000 Tons of Spent Lithium-Ion Battery Project Lands in Yiyang, Hunan
Recently, a relevant website published the first public notice for the environmental impact assessment of the "Taisen Technology Annual Recycling and Processing of 50,000 Tons of Spent Lithium-Ion Batteries (Phase I: 20,000 Tons/Year)". The project has a total investment of 250 million yuan, with a Phase I investment of 120 million yuan. It will construct a comprehensive utilization production line for spent lithium-ion batteries, mainly including battery depackaging, pyrolysis, crushing, and sorting. The recycling and processing capacity for this evaluation project is 20,000 tons/year.

Annual Processing of 120,000 Tons of Spent Power Lithium-Ion Battery Project Lands in Jiangxi
Recently, the Ecological Environment Bureau of Ji'an City, Jiangxi Province, released the proposed acceptance public notice for the environmental impact report of the "Jiangxi Woquan Energy Technology Co., Ltd. Comprehensive Utilization of Spent Power Lithium-Ion Batteries and Silicon-Carbon Anode Material Manufacturing Project," marking a key step for this large-scale new energy material recycling project. The construction includes two main parts. First, a production line for dismantling, crushing, and recycling spent power lithium-ion batteries: this line processes a total of 120,000 tons of spent power lithium-ion batteries annually, specifically including 40,000 tons of spent ternary lithium batteries and 80,000 tons of spent lithium iron phosphate batteries.

40,000-Ton Retired Power Battery Comprehensive Processing Project Lands in Henan
Recently, the National Construction Project Environmental Information Publicity Platform released relevant information on the environmental impact evaluation of the Nanyang Retired Power Battery Recycling Center Project by Hemei Technology (Henan) Co., Ltd. The project is located at No. 1 Longteng Road, Zheshan Town, Zhenping County, Nanyang City, covering an area of 39,009.13 m² with a building area of approximately 16,000 m². It will comprehensively utilize 40,000 tons of retired power batteries annually. The public notice period is from March 30, 2026, to May 25, 2026.

Recycling of 150,000 Tons of New Energy Power Battery Comprehensive Utilization Project Lands in Jiangsu
Recently, the first public notice for the environmental impact evaluation of the annual high-quality recycling of 150,000 tons of new energy power batteries comprehensive utilization project by Jiangsu Zhenghe Xinrui New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. was released. Upon completion, the project will have an annual capacity to process 150,000 tons of new energy power batteries. It will be built in two phases: Phase I processes 100,000 tons of new energy power batteries annually and includes a metal research laboratory; Phase II processes 50,000 tons annually.

Xuzhou Annual 5,000-Ton Lithium Battery Regenerated Black Mass Project
Jiangsu Zechen Lithium Innovation New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. plans to build a power battery recycling and reuse project in Pizhou City, Xuzhou City. As of April 15, the public notice has been completed, and the project has entered the stage of preparing the environmental impact report. The total investment is 50 million yuan. [SMM Analysis] Korea’s Automotive Industry: 2030 Competitiveness Depends on EV Transition Execution
Korea’s auto industry maintained solid exports and production in 2025, but its 2030 competitiveness will depend on EV transition execution. The domestic market has matured, while hybrids have become a defensive pillar. EV adoption remains below the government’s target, and U.S.-EU policy pressure and Chinese EV competition are reshaping export strategies. Future competitiveness will hinge on pricing, localization, battery sourcing, and charging and safety confidence.
