【SMM Flash News】PT Vale Indonesia’s 2026 RKAB Quotas Fall Significantly Short of Targets for Bahodopi and Pomalaa

Published: Apr 16, 2026 17:12
PT Vale Indonesia (INCO) reports a major shortfall in its 2026 approved RKAB quotas compared to internal targets. The Bahodopi mine was granted 2.31 million tons (74% below target), while Pomalaa received 5.8 million tons (68% below target). CEO Bernardus Irmanto noted that the Pomalaa quota falls short of the 7 million tons needed for the smelter's planned August 2026 launch. Combined with a 6% decline in Sorowako’s nickel matte target (67,645 tons) due to furnace maintenance, INCO faces tightening supply constraints across its 2026 roadmap.

[SMM Stainless Steel Market Flash] European Stainless Flats Keep Rising as Sentiment Stays Cautious
According to market reports, European stainless flat steel prices continue to rise sharply, but overall market sentiment remains cautious. Feedback from the Tube & Wire trade show in Düsseldorf suggests that geopolitical uncertainty, subdued downstream activity, and a mixed outlook for end-users are still weighing on confidence. Although demand has improved from the weak levels seen in 2025, real end-user activity remains disappointing.
