【SMM Steel】GSCC commences 2-year review of global steel climate standard

【SMM Steel】The GSCC initiated a comprehensive evaluation of its Steel Climate Standard to align with current science and industry practices. The two-year process examines emissions measurement, certification criteria, and decarbonization frameworks. Since adoption in Aug 2023, members have eliminated nearly 3 Mt CO₂e via verified reductions. Stakeholders can submit feedback from Apr 9 to Jun 23, 2026. The review ensures the framework remains a relevant benchmark for the global steel value chain. Further engagement opportunities will occur.
