【SMM Steel】Vallourec provides tubular solutions for California's debut CCS facility

Published: Apr 9, 2026 15:54
【SMM Steel】Vallourec partnered with CRC to support the CTV I project at Elk Hills Field, California's first CCS site with EPA Class VI permits. Vallourec supplied CRA pipes with premium VAM® 21 connections for CO₂ injection into depleted reservoirs. CTV I plans to store 1.46 Mt CO₂/year, launching spring 2026. The project uses Vallourec's CLEANWELL® dope-free tech. VAM® Field Service experts provided on-site support.

[SMM Steel] SAIL to launch hydrogen injection at Bokaro blast furnace to cut emissions
[SMM Steel] Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) plans to introduce hydrogen injection at its Bokaro blast furnace to reduce carbon emissions and advance green steel production. The project aims to partially replace coke and coal with hydrogen, which emits water vapor instead of CO₂. The initiative involves support from RDCIS and Primetals Technologies, and is expected to lower emissions, enhance low-carbon steel competitiveness, and support export demand.

[SMM Steel] India targets 25% emissions cut and capacity expansion under new policy
[SMM Steel] India is drafting the National Steel Policy 2025, aiming to reduce steel sector emissions by about 25% and expand crude steel capacity to 400 million mt by 2035-36. The plan targets lowering emissions to 2 tons of CO₂ per ton of finished steel, while reducing coal dependence and supporting long-term production growth.
