Switzerland's solar market contracted in 2025, adding 1.52 GW of new capacity—down 15% year-on-year—as falling electricity prices slowed household adoption. Cumulative capacity reached 9.62 GW. Despite this, the 2026 outlook remains optimistic, driven by an 82% surge in behind-the-meter battery installations, which added 1.01 GWh last year. Industry association Swissolar projects solar will cover 17% of national electricity demand by 2026. As negative pricing hours increase, the sector is shifting its focus toward storage and smart building electrification to ease grid costs.
