[SMM PV News] Blackstone to Invest €250M in Solar and Storage Developer Sunotec

Published: Apr 9, 2026 09:35
Solar and storage developer Sunotec has partnered with 'US' investment firm Blackstone, securing a €250 million structured equity investment. Expected to close in H1 2026, the deal leaves Sunotec's founders as majority shareholders. The funding will accelerate the company's expansion across key European markets and support its independent power producer ('IPP') platform. A major focus will be tackling grid bottlenecks and expanding grid infrastructure capabilities, building on Sunotec's recent acquisition of German substation builder Kaufmann Electric to deliver integrated 'energy as a system' solutions.

[SMM PV News] South Australia Seeks Global Bids for Massive Renewable Zones
The South Australia government is inviting global investors to propose large-scale solar, wind, and storage projects across roughly 11,700 square kilometers of land in the Whyalla West and Gawler Ranges East areas. Released under the state's Hydrogen and Renewable Energy Act, these zones offer exceptional wind and solar resources with the potential to power over 500,000 homes. Tenders are open until June 28, 2026, requiring applicants to detail environmental management plans and community benefits. This initiative supports the state's target to reach 100% net renewable energy by 2027.

[SMM PV News] Croatia's 'HEP' Tenders 56 MW Solar and 200 MWh 'BESS' Project
Croatia's state-owned electricity company, 'HEP', is inviting bids for a 56 MW solar project paired with up to 200 MWh of battery energy storage in Zadar county. Supported by the 'EBRD', the project scope involves site preparation, electrical infrastructure installation, and the construction of a new 100/33 kV substation. Pre-qualification proposals are due by May 12, with the 54.8-hectare project slated to reach the ready-to-build stage by late 2026. This major tender aligns with Croatia's rapid renewable growth, as the country's cumulative solar capacity surpassed 1.2 GW in late 2025.
