[SMM PV News] Hongyuan Green Energy Acquires Control of Wuxi Suntech in Restructuring Deal

Published: Mar 27, 2026 09:18
Hongyuan Green Energy has signed a restructuring investment agreement to acquire control of Wuxi Suntech Solar Power. Utilizing a 'new entity plus asset transfer' structure, Hongyuan will invest CNY 630 million for a 63% stake in the newly formed 'New Suntech', effectively isolating the original entity's massive historical debts. The acquisition grants Hongyuan access to Suntech's established global brand, international sales channels, and 7.5 GW of combined cell and module manufacturing capacity, which it plans to upgrade to n-type 'TOPCon' technology.

[SMM PV] Module Energy Efficiency National Standard to Be Released Soon, Low-Efficiency Capacity Faces "Life-or-Death Line"
On June 11, a journalist from Shell Finance learned that the "Energy Efficiency Limits and Energy Efficiency Grades for Crystalline Silicon PV Modules and Inverters" has entered the final approval stage before release, and is expected to be officially released soon. Previously, several mandatory standards, including those on module safety, nameplate labeling, and polysilicon energy consumption limits, have been implemented or released for public comment. From end-user modules to upstream polysilicon, the technical and energy consumption thresholds at each link of the industry chain continue to rise. Against the backdrop of the industry as a whole not yet turning a profit and top-tier players still facing profitability pressure, this supply-side adjustment, driven by standard upgrades, is becoming a major force reshaping the competitive landscape of the PV industry.
